Windows Tip: Look for Similar Fonts

Use this tip to find fonts that look alike.

If you're like me, you like to give every document its own unique look and feel. A font can add this personalized touch, but it's not always easy to find the one you want. Instead of sorting through every font in a program such as Microsoft Word, find one that's almost perfect. Then let your PC search for similar fonts. Here's how:

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Fonts folder.
  3. Go to the View menu and select "List Fonts By Similarity."
  4. Choose the name of a font that's "not quite right" from the "List fonts by similarity" drop-down menu. You'll get a list of fonts in order of similarity.
  5. Double-click the name of each font to see how it looks.
