Speed up printing by
utilizing the Send To
command. |
|
|
Windows comes with an
incredibly useful feature
called the Send To command.
This feature is found by
right-clicking on any
document. It allows you to
bypass file associations and
open up documents in any
program. You can also send
documents to the printer
without having to open them
first. Doing either of these
requires that the program or
printers be listed in the
Send To menu.
Follow these steps to add
a printer to the Send To
menu.
- Single-click the Start
menu, mouse over Settings,
and select Printers from
the list.
- Right-click your
printer's icon inside the
Printers folder and select
"Create Shortcut" from the
menu.
- You will then be asked
if it's OK for the
shortcut to be placed on
the desktop. Single-click
the "Yes" button.
- Go to your desktop and
find the newly placed
shortcut to your printer.
- Select the new
shortcut by
single-clicking on it.
Once it's highlighted,
hold down and release the
CTRL key + X at the same
time. (This will "Cut" the
shortcut to be placed
inside the Send To menu.)
- Open up My Computer
from your desktop and
select the drive where
Windows is installed.
- Open up the Windows
folder and double-click
the Send To folder.
- Hold down and release
the CTRL key + V at the
same time to "Paste" the
new printer shortcut
inside the Send To folder.
- Try out the new
shortcut by sending a
document directly to your
printer.
